Over 130 union mechanics and truck drivers in Tolleson Arizona are expected to lose their jobs by the end of August after grocery colossus Kroger ended its contract with a third-party transportation provider. For twenty plus years, “the Tolleson distribution center has kept shelves stocked for every Fry’s food store in Arizona. The drivers and mechanics—represented by Teamsters Local 104—work for Ruan Transportation, a company contracted to handle deliveries and vehicle maintenance for Kroger-owned Fry’s and Smith’s stores.”
