Ryder System, with $12.6 billion in revenue, is a top provider of logistics and transportation services with more than 50,000 employees in North America running a fleet of more than 250,000 trucks. Its evolution has come a long way since it was founded in 1933 by James Ryder with a single Model A Ford truck and a $35 down payment. About a decade ago, the Ryder board wanted CEO Robert Sanchez to focus on innovation and how to progress the company beyond the core strategy and services that had kept it alive for decades.
